Welcome to my ever-growing list of useful sites and services that I’ve found over the last few years.
Kindle Direct Publishing
Where it all begins…
Created by best selling author Mark Dawson and James Blatch, this site offers courses on many of the key skills you need to become an independent author with contributions from specialists in writing, editing and advertising. They also have a great podcast.
Reedsy is a marketplace for Editors, Cover designers, marketing experts and much more.
Started by Michael Anderle and Craig Martelle, the facebook group has over 44K indie authors from all over the world. It holds a vast repository of knowledge gleaned from the experience of thousands of authors and still remains one of the most engaged and supportive groups out there.
This is definitely one to spend some time on if you’re just starting out as an author. Dave Chesson is a great communicator and has some useful tools like Publisher Rocket that can help with your Amazon ads.
For those who want to go ‘Wide’ and not exclusive to Amazon. Draft2Digital can help you get onto Apple, Kobo and a bunch of other ebook distributors.
My favourite tool for writing. So much more flexible than MS Word.
Only available for Apple Mac, this is the best thing I ever bought. It formats your manuscripts into eBook EPUB and print PDF in minutes. It’s a little pricey but its totally worth it.
